The South Pender Local Trust Committee asked staff to schedule a special meeting in March or April to discuss draft Bylaw 129, part of the Minor Land Use Bylaw Amendments Project.[1] The committee also voted to add a public hearing to the project and amend its budget as set out in the staff report.[1]

The committee asked staff to change the bylaw’s floor-area definition by increasing the height threshold from 1.5 metres to 1.8 metres.[1] The minutes record discussion of house sizes, setbacks and how the draft would address existing dwellings, but no final decision on those provisions.[1]

During public comment, speakers expressed differing views on proposed setbacks and house sizes, including support for a 20-foot side setback and support for the Advisory Planning Commission’s proposed house sizes.[1]

The committee selected “Town Hall during regular Local Trust Committee Meeting” as its option for Phase 4 community engagement on the draft Islands Trust Policy Statement.[1]
